Skull segmentation ( Outer and Inner layers of cortical bone) from CT-MRI

Dear community,

I would like to segment the outer and inner layers of the skull's cortical bone from CT and MRI images, as suggested in the paper https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jbmr.2613. Could you please provide me with the necessary steps to achieve this? Additionally, I would appreciate guidance on how to measure the bone thickness of both the outer and inner layers, as well as the total thickness of different segments of the skull bone as suggested in the paper.
