# autoEdit release notes
This version is backwards compatible with previous pre-releases from `1.0.3` onwards.
## For first time users
[see these instructions for installing](https://autoedit.gitbook.io/user-manual/installing)
## For returning users
### For clean uninstall
[use app cleaner](https://autoedit.gitbook.io/user-manual/uninstalling), this will delete transcriptions you might already have in the app.
### To keep previous transcriptions
And make use of new functionalities for latest version. This is only possible if you are running `1.0.3` onwards and you can just follow [regular instructions for installing](https://autoedit.gitbook.io/user-manual/installing) and drag and drop in applications folder to replace the app. This will keep any transcriptions you currently have in there.
When you drag and drop in application folder and chose `replace`.

## Known Bugs
- There seems to be known bug that happens apparently at random when creating a new transcription, sometimes, unclear why, the metadata is not saved for to the transcription. [see issue for more details on best guess](https://github.com/OpenNewsLabs/autoEdit_2/issues/51). this is still being investigated to figure out root cause.
