Add some helper functions to create new pipeline scripts

There is currently a lot of similar code when creating new pipeline scripts. We should unify common blocks into convenient functions, so that it's easy to add new scripts without a lot of duplication. Ideally it should be as easy as just registering a script somewhere and maybe adding extra arguments that are non-default or adding a decorator
