## MDRD formula by enzymatic assay
In many countries including USA, Scr is determined ***"Jaffe reaction method"***.
But, some regions including Japan, Scr is determined ***"enzymatic assay"***.
#### Below the reference of these method (TOYOBO news letter at 2006)
* [Jaffe reaction method](http://www.toyobo.co.jp/seihin/dsg/technical/newsletter/img/006.pdf)
* [enzymatic assay](http://www.toyobo.co.jp/seihin/dsg/technical/newsletter/img/007.pdf)
So, new MDRD formula are proposed to use Scr measured by enzymatic assay in 2006.
* MDRD formula (enzyme)
* caucasians male
$$
eGFR_{(male)}=175\times (Age)^{-0.203}\times (Scr)^{-1.154}
$$
* caucasians female
$$
eGFR_{(male)}=175\times (Age)^{-0.203}\times (Scr)^{-1.154}\times 0.742
$$
This value from MDRD is need to adjust by BSA, too.
$$
eGFR_{(adj-BSA)}=GFR\times \frac{BSA}{1.73}
$$
* MDRD formula adjusted by race
The coefficitnt of Japanese is deteremined 0.741 by Japanese Society of Nephrology (JSN).
* Japanese male
$$
eGFR_{(male)}=175\times (Age)^{-0.203}\times (Scr)^{-1.154}\times 0.741
$$
* Japanese female
$$
eGFR_{(male)}=175\times (Age)^{-0.203}\times (Scr)^{-1.154}\times 0.742\times 0.741
$$
But this formula is not recommended by JSN. To calculate eGFR of Japanese, JSN recommend new Japanese formula at 2009 (see Japanese formula).
