Seeing as how the Elvis Project is supposed to eventually become international, we should probably add a model called Institutions (McGill University, Harvard University, etc.).

Users and Collections could be associated with Institutions.

I find this confusing. What is associated with institutions, users or works? What about things that are not attached to an institution? If attached to works, do you need an institution for a work?

I think 'collections' solve this problem -- an institutional collection can be made if you want to group works uploaded by an institution. If users, you can create groups in Django to group users from a specific institution if you want.

I was thinking that Institution could be an optional field on Users and Collections.

Would you use a GenericForeignKey relationship for that?
