Advice needed on macOS pip install

Firstly, thanks so much to the developers for creating the option of a pip install of CADQuery.

I'm trying to install on macOS with Homebrew python and almost certainly doing something wrong:

$ python3 --version
Python 3.10.6

$ which python3
/opt/homebrew/bin/python3

I think this means CADQuery needs Python version 3.4?

I'm also thinking this could be a conflict between "system" Python and Homebrew Python.

CadQuery should be requiring Python 3.7 or newer. Are you using a virtual environment?

This is not an M1 Mac, correct?

I haven’t setup any virtualenv yet and this is an m1 Mac.

I may have assumed (wrongly) that the underlying libraries (e.g. OCCT) are built for m1 or universal binary macOS. Please feel free to ignore or delete this discussion.

M1 Macs are a challenge. The PyPi packages were built in CI on GitHub, and I doubt they're set up correctly to work on an M1 Mac. I set the CI jobs up, and I'm not even sure how they would be built universal for an M1. Some other people have run CadQuery on an M1, but it took some work. I don't think any of the core CadQuery devs are Mac people, and I always have to borrow an older Intel based Mac for testing when it's needed.
