Automatically ship collection level metadata

Opening this to not forget: it would be nice to have a functionality that automatically ships the collection level metadata when "cloning" a collection to e.g. just alter one field. Since everything is const after being stored, this kind of manual meta data shipping has to be done many times in a typical reconstruction chain. Tagging @giovannimarchiori
