cmi5 AU Narrative

Denis Hall went thru current status of cmi5 AU narrative presentation. The group provided feedback the cmi5 launch session flowchart and made updates.

The presentation is the first in a series that will provide guidance to developers implementing cmi5. The complete series will be as follows:

1. Understanding cmi5 & xAPI
2. Planning for cmi5 implementations
3. Implementing cmi5
4. Testing cmi5

"Partial" xAPI Implementations

The group discussed also discussed an interesting phenomenon called "Partial xAPI implementation". "Partial xAPI implementations" are typically "LMS-Like" products that:

1. Do not conform to the xAPI specification
2. Receive xAPI statements from learning content
3. Often only store basic status (like completed) and throw away the rest of the statement data
4. Don't provide means for the content (or other xAPI clients) to read statements (Statements GET)
5. Do not implement any of the other (non-Statement) API resources in xAPI (like the State, ActivityProfile, AgentProfile)

Such products claim that they "support xAPI" and are sometimes portrayed as "simpler than SCORM".
