Notes
The group discussed cmi5 adoption, best practices, and cmi5 promotion with "Why cmi5?" topics.
Why CMI5 ? (3 high level talking points)
- Enhanced Capabilities over existing eLearning standards(SCORM/AICC) (popups, ,,,etc)
- cmi5 is the only "LMS-launches-content" open standard currently being developed (and is being developed by the community that created AICC/SCORM)
- Extensible for future...Since it is based on xAPI….
Why CMI5 ? (alternative high level talking points)
- cmi5 is peer reviewed by the AICC/SCORM community and is on active standards path
- Maps xAPI (Modern Infrastructure on) to the existing LMS model – for plugin and Play interoperability
- cmi5 is the latest, and only actively being developed, specification for the LMS launches content scenario.
Other benefits to be grouped...
- Content As Service Scenario – You can host on external Hosts (different than LMS)
- Record what you want. (Multiple learning scenarios )
- Guaranteed Access to the data without proprietary software (standardized data interface)
- cmi5 Session Envelope (grouped statements for launch session)
- Better Windowing on launch (Mobile)
- More Secure (fetchURL authentication)
- Distributed Content (Content as service)
