[BUG] Damage Dealt by Kinetic Rounds Varies Under Same Conditions #278
Comments
If the test was done with angled plates, there was a weird scenario where a ricochet would cause damage twice. |
Is this still a thing? |
i haven't tested since this point so i'm not sure |
Confirmed - Still an issue |
this was, and originally it was FAR worse, as in either 0 damage or the plate got immediately 1 shot. It's not currently as horrific but it's still randomized. I'm going to edit and reword the post to "Damage Randomized" since it's not armor strength thats changing, it's the damage dealt. |
Short Description
Shooting the same plate with the same gun in the exact same conditions will produce damage results with an amount of variation
Branch and Version
Current newest master branch version and all past ones in the past few months to my knowledge.
Console Error Logs (Optional)
No console errors t
How to Reproduce (Optional)
How I recreated it:
Shown in video, however:
Create an armored plate
Aim a functional ACF weapon at the plate (I tested with AP ammunition, and both 170mm cannons and 187.5mm howitzers)
Wire it to fire on a numpad press
Duplicate this initial setup multiple times for more variation
Fire the weapons, record armor values
Either repair all plates manually or respawn entire system, results same.
Extra Notes
originally I also did this with 10 plates with slight increases in armor values as I was testing how armor value affected shots to kill, to be met with different results every retest with the one that takes the most shots to kill changing every time, aswell as sometimes plates getting instantly killed or not taking damage, however i have not repeated this large scale test as just showing that damage is somewhat random should produce the same result of things dying at inconsistent and illogical rates under identical circumstance. I'm under the impression that the instant death of plates issue was the ricochet dealing doubled damage now however.
